Troop History

Boy Scout Troop 48 has been a Crown Point institution for over 90 years. Since its founding in in the late 1920sTroop 48 has provide hundreds and hundreds of area youth with adventure, fun, education, and life long friends. In 2022 We moved to a new chartering partner, St. Matthias Catholic Parish. We love our new home and look forward to working with them,  helping in various service projects, church services and adding to the churches other worthwhile programs.

Troop 48 is a very active troop. We go on a minimum of 10 overnighters a year including a week long summer camp at Owasippe in Michigan. Some of the fun things we do include the following.

  • National Scout Jamboree (2013 & 2017 & 2023)

Troop 48 is also heavily involved in community organizations, charity, an community service.

and much much much more.

In the past several years Troop 48 has become one of the most active troops in the area. Scouts from our troop have attended the 2010, 2013, 2017 and 2023 National Jamborees, Boundary Waters and Philmont High Adventure. Several scouts are involved in the Order of the Arrow Ceremony Team. We have had several Eagle Scouts over the past several years
