Troop History

Boy Scout Troop 48 has been a Crown Point insitution for over 50 years. Since its founding in 1957 Troop 48 has provide hundreds and hundreds of area youth with adventure, fun, education, and life long friends. We have been at our current location, First United Methodist Church, since the 1980s and enjoy a close relation with them helping in various service projects, church services and adding to the churches other worthwhile programs.

Troop 48 is a very active troop. We go on a minimum of 10 overnighters a year including a week long summer camp at Owasippe in Michigan. Some of the fun things we do include the following.

Troop 48 is also heavly involved in community orginizations, charity, an community service.

In the past several years Troop 48 has become one of the most active troops in the area. Scouts from our troop have attended the 2010 National Jamboree, and Philmont High Adventure. Several scouts are involved in the Order of the Arrow Ceremony Team. In 2010 we had 2 Eagle Scouts, and in 2011 we have had 4 eagle scouts, with 1 more on the way.
